When cleaning block paving it’s important not to jet wash the surface directly. This can disturb the sub-base underneath the bricks and cause the blocks to subside. Our rotary surface cleaning machines make sure that any weeds, grass and moss, between the gaps and joints, are safely removed so that the sub-base of the surface is not disturbed.
We have numerous, self contained, cleaning systems powered by both petrol and diesel generators, so we can make light work of cleaning any block paved area no matter what the surface type. It’s quite common for some block paving to suffer from dips or sunken areas. These can be repaired as part of the restoration process. We remove the blocks from the affected area, raise the sub-base/base sand, replace the original blocks and level the repair. A fresh covering of kiln-dried sand is then brushed in to firm up and stabilise the joints.
We will also obtain and replace any broken bricks at the customer’s request.

Re-Sanding and Sealing Block Paving – Protecting Your Block Paving
Once the area is clean and dry, it’s important to replace any sand lost during the cleaning process. Kiln-Dried Sand is used for this and ensures the blocks are unable to slip or slide about.
Block paving sealants are a great way to give the surface extra protection against the elements. Their main benefits are they seal the joint sand in place, protect the surface from spills and stains, enhance the natural colour of the blocks and help prevent weed and moss growth.
People and pets should keep off the area until it is completely dry (4 hours approx). Vehicles should be kept off the paving for at least 36 hours after the sealant is applied.
